Uncontained was a series of temporary and site-specific installations created inside a container yard, in Georgetown WA.
Uncontained was designed to explore selective access and material information — with regards to a proposal for the Battery Street Tunnel. The installation itself featured a series of cords in tension designed as an exploration of the container park typology — with a projection component celebrating the historic legacy of the Battery Street Tunnel.
“Shipping containers are brilliant in their utility and regularity. Understanding their structure and function is a gateway to understanding many other aspects of urban circulation, regulations, and shipping constraints — many of which have daily impacts on our everyday lives.”
Uncontained was created as part of the CoCA Lab residency, in collaboration with 4Culture, the Seattle Foundation, and individual donors and CoCA members — Winter 2016.
