Iron Triangle

Queens, NY

Iron Triangle is a photographic documentation of the “chop shop” structures that once occupied Willets Point — in Queens, NY (2008-2012)

In the shadows of the newly constructed Citi-Field, the Iron Triangle was branded as “another euphemism for blight” — and shortly thereafter; each shop owner within this industrial node was issued the promise of eviction, as redevelopment plans that would be more consistent with the new vision for the neighborhood were unveiled.

“…for decades, the Iron-Triangle was like the wild-wild west. An informal haven for auto parts — with no enforced regulation, restriction, or city services — the chop shop was a cultural icon for transaction commerce in Queens”

Currently,  the city’s redevelopment plans for the Iron Triangle are still pending, but half of its structures have been demolished — its and the remaining current business tenants have been already been issued a deadline to evacuate their respective places of business. (September 2020).
